Every time we drove by We 3 Every time we drove past Westville I used to marvel at how much land they had that they could get hay from. It reminded me of the days when I worked hauling hay, back when we loaded 60 lb. bales on the back of a truck and then stacked them in a barn. It was hot, dirty work, but I loved it. The idea hit me that you could get a lot of hay from that land and move it by railroad to less fertile areas where they needed forage for their cattle. It costs much less to move freight by rail than it does by truck. Then it struck me that you could raise a lot of cows on that land. Why move hay to far away places when you could use the land to pasture cattle at home? It could be a humane alternative to factory farming. Maybe you could do both, send some of the hay to far away places and graze large herds on it at home. I don't know if these ideas are good ideas. They're just something I thought up.
