It's like they are trying to purposely hide it from the internet. This website has been up and running for a few years now. Most of the people that I know personally who used to use the orginal Topix forums don't even know that this website exists. The ones that I inform about it are absolutely shocked to learn about it. They also wonder why they can't find it when they look for it specifically and other online forums through most of the search engines that they use.

Hey! I'm a 28 year old, single female nurse with mostly conservative political views and no kids, but I would love to get married (to a male, lol) and have kids someday. I'm planning to move soon from my depressing, crime and drug infested hometown of Harlan, Kentucky. I have been through Lincolnton twice, and I thought that it was a really cute town. The people whom I briefly encountered there seemed so nice and friendly. Lincolnton reminds me a little bit of Somerset, Kentucky, which I love, but I don't want to move there because my ex stepdad moved there a few months ago, lol! Anyway, I have a bunch of cousins in the Charlotte, North Carolina area because my paternal grandfather came from there. I want to live close to them, but I'm not a big fan of living in huge metropolitan cities. I absolutely LOVE coming to North Carolina though, and I believe that I would be very happy living there. Well, thank you in advance to anyone who answers my question (which is the title of the topic, lol) and / or gives me any advice about the area. I wish that I could have checked the place out and spent a lot more time there when I was driving through there twice. Y'all are so blessed to live in such a beautiful state!

I thought it was shameful that Sheriff Six Shooter kicked Charlie Greene in the balls again with the recipient of the leadership award given in his memory. Then the tax man came. Really Dylan Houser, the recipient of said award, makes around what patrol lieutenants make. He's a smart kid but all he knows about law enforcement he read in a book. He was a patrol deputy for about thirty minutes. I get nausea when he teaches a class and projects like he's a twenty year veteran. There are deputies, real deputies, who retire with thirty years that haven't even approached the 70k mark. Shame on Sheriff Six Shooter and Lincoln County. No wonder there are so many open deputy slots.

It took a while for me to get with the beard thing in law enforcement. If you keep it short, neat, and clean I guess that it's ok. Your appearance gets you that first little bit of respect from people which allows you to earn the rest of it. I'm sorry but trend or not if this dude showed up when I was in need of help my first impression would be that I'm on my own. He really isn't to blame though. He may be the best deputy at the agency. Detective Renn is a manipulative, narcissist, who preys on vulnerable people, especially women. So why have detectives if the deputies are trained in crime scene processing? You have swat, ground search, dive team, etc. Why not train the deputies in those areas too and dispense with those teams? Deputies have enough on their plate without having to do work that a few specialized officers could handle. Oh yeah Mannon I said I would do it so here it comes. All LCSO deputies are trained to process crime scenes not just detective’s. However if it is a serious situation as they do arise numerous detectives will be on scene to process and conduct interviews. So once again you keep showing ignorance. Oh my the SO don’t have a dedicated ghost buster lab, oh my they must be behind the times. Wrong. Officers are trained to take care of situations and detectives are on hand to assist or take over if necessary.

If a detective is involved with the mother of a child victim of a case he is investigating then there is a definite conflict of interest and is also very unprofessional. The detective is risking the case getting prosecuted or overturned. We don’t know the details of if this is actually true or not but if it is and the case is lost because of this action then the detective needs to be terminated. Any defense attorney with any experience would dismantle the entire case by showing biases on the state’s top witness - the detective. If it’s already been prosecuted then the defendant has grounds for appeal and getting it overturned.

In light of so much info here, yes there are a lot of wrongs, a lot of misleading, a bit of confusion, some truths, some partial truths, some assumptions, but one thing is fact, regardless of who wears a badge, their life can be and is put on the line at any moment and the pay for that is very minimal. It is true, like teaching they knew what they were getting into when they signed up for the job. All of the name calling and childish banter will not fix the issue. Law enforcement is needed as well as good management. With the ability to fire at will, it is difficult to make changes in that type of organization. There are some true supporters and there are some that just want to keep their job. The mental issues that come with law enforcement are very wide spread and they need our support. That does not mean agreeing with everything, but it does mean helpful and tactful criticism needs to be given and accepted by all. Even the bad apples. We have to have hope they will come to their morals before ruining any more families, and any more futures. You call Bill out, maybe he will respond to your questions and concerns. I am sure he has to see this as an issue, regardless of the merit. Perhaps some reinforcement in training of what is expected and yes to clean up some of the good ole boy antics that has been seen so often over years and years of politics within this brotherhood. Help his officers! Maybe instead of calling out, and asking for someone’s job, what would you do to help them correct themselves. Can it even be done with out cleaning house and maybe reaching out for support above Bill to help him figure this out and to learn additional management skills. Fix the problems, we need officers so don’t just get rid of them. They are just like the rest of us and just need guidance on reality. Staying hopeful!

Many years ago, when he was a newly appointed Lincoln County Sheriff's office he would brag about how he would make an arrest and abuse, cajole, antagonize, insult or berate a suspect while "slamming, punching, " or "beating the s***t out of him." He would swell with pride as he related these tales to me. I assumed his body dysmorphia was to blame for some of this behavior, as he often would comment that those he would assault were larger males, (Justin was/is short and gangly with a slight paunch.) He told more than one person he would ACTIVELY pursue a confrontation with a suspect so he could "f**k him up." I do not know Justin's brother, nor do I know Justin's sister in law, but based upon hearing him describe his behavior while performing official duties, I am certain the accusations are true.

The fact that the people of Lincoln county are doing nothing about the mess of a S.O. that is there speaks volumes about what ignorant sheep they are. The few decent officers that are there just shut their mouths and keep their head down too....sad and pathetic. Does anyone here honestly think the S.O. could be trusted to uphold law and order if we were to have some sort of disaster? Is no one going to demand that the tax payers find out how much money has been paid out to settle law suits? The Republican party in this county that have just sat on their asses for years totally backing Bill 100%...that is shameful. They just write checks to make the law suits go away instead of cleaning house at the S.O.

Can you imagine if Bill Beams hand picked successor is Kelly Adkins? It’s bad enough David picked the old geezer Beam as a political favor over 2 deputies and long time supporters of his (Propst, Johnson). If Beam does pick Atkins it will be the same thing - A BIG ASS SLAP IN THE FACE to any hardworking and loyal deputy that has busted their ass to get where they are. Also it shows that the sheriff has failed to do his job by developing leaders and personnel to take his place. It would be funny to watch Lykins, Houser and Propst go on suicide watch because they all think they deserve it. Hell Propst don’t even work there anymore and feels he’s entitled to it. When are these people going to learn that Carpenter, Beam and the upper echelon of the local party just use them and toss them away? I expect this to happen because Beam already has a track record of bringing in cronies (Sain, Caskey, Eason, Dellinger) for double dipping positions that keep full timers from getting.

It's not common sense, It's delusional. It'll come back on you in some way. People can't live the kind of life you have been and not face consequently at some point. God won't be your only judge if you accidentally beat someone to death. Being so openly arrogant, aggressive, and flippant about excessive force isn't a great strategy if you're likely to use excessive force in the future. Anyone who speaks about it so casually is likely to be an offender at some point. You're setting the county up for one hell of a lawsuit.
