Request in this time Trouble: Please send this to anyone you can. Can we talk about a Personal Thing we can do in this time of Trouble! Isaiah 58: 1-14 is a choice given to any and all humans. A Call To Fast in 20/20, From: the Elder of the Old Church of God of the New Covenant : We will seek God to take control, Seek Him to set our hearts on fire for those in need! This call is to all who have the health to do so: Are we here just for ourselves, or for all of those around us? Is it not us, that should step up first for the weakness and sickness of this country in the world. In this Fasting for Freedom; The Poor among us need you! If we will not Fast who will? “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to lose the chains of injustice. It looks like the poor and needed in our country will not receive money and much needed help for the government of our nation. There seems to be a war against the poor in our world. and a Fast we will do seeking the Lord to untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? – Isaiah 8:6 of sickness in our world, We will seek more of Him and less of Us. Repentance is not an unreasonable request for the nation. “Even now, ” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning. ” Joel 2:12 Are we this as a Nation? Occasions fasting in this time of Trouble : This could be an Event that sets us free as a Nation: We are God’s People and we are here, we Believe Him, so let us seek Him. Praying for health: Is a Biblical understanding. "David pleaded with God for the child. He fasted and went into his house and spent the nights lying on the ground" (2 Samuel 12:16) Do we not need Health at this time? I think so. Praying for safety: Do we not have a need to be safe? "There, by the Ahava Canal, I proclaimed a fast, so that we might humble ourselves before our God and ask him for a safe journey for us and our children, with all our possessions" (Ezra 8:21). As an act of repentance: Should we not be ready to leave this world saved. Sometimes we think we have no sins but we are human and when we came to God through John 3:15-17 we did not become a God who can’t sins we were forgiven, we are His, He did make us more that all we were, but we can and do fall down, we do need to repent when we have sins. "When they had assembled at Mizpah, they drew water and poured it out before the LORD. On that day they fasted and there they confessed, "We have sinned against the LORD. " And Samuel was leader of Israel at Mizpah" (1 Samuel 7:6). As a sign of mourning: "They mourned and wept and fasted till evening for Saul and his son Jonathan, and for the army of the LORD and the house of Israel, because they had fallen by the sword" (2 Samuel 1:12). Did those of the New Covenant Early Church Fast? They were all Christian and all New Covenant and under Grace, a Mercy that only a loving God could give to His humans of this world. For He is God to all even those who do not want Him, He loves them as well, can we love like He loves, yes we can, all we have to do is hurt when others have hurt, love those who will not love you back. Before making an important decision: "While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, 'Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them. ' So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off…. Paul and Barnabas appointed elders for them in each church and, with prayer and fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust " (Acts 13:2-3; 14:23). Teachings on prayer and fasting in the Bible: Fasting is a personal event: "When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to men that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you" (Matthew 6:16-18).
